Season
The cycle a project's tree grows in — its setting in time.
What a season is
A season is the chapter a project’s tree grows through. Enter whatever suits the project — a version, a stage, a round. The current season is now, earlier ones are past. Add a new season and it becomes now, while the season you were working in turns past. Items in a past season can still be read, but as a record of what has already happened they can no longer be restructured.
In the now season you can still change the tree, but changing a node that has already grown through a commit — rather than a plan node — leaves a record. Deleting a node leaves a pruning (soft delete) record too, so you can still see that the branch was once there.
The season list in the sidebar
Seasons appear as a list in the sidebar. Select one and the view moves to where that season’s growth begins, and the tree settles on how it looked at the end of that season.
The time slider
The time slider sits along the bottom. Drag it forward to follow how the project changed over time. Selecting a season in the sidebar narrows the slider to that season, so dragging it then walks through the growth recorded inside it.
Transplanting
While transplanting, a ground can be edited across season boundaries, and nodes can be restructured or deleted outright as if the tree were still provisional.
- Transplanting — past seasons are editable and hard delete is available. It is marked in amber at the top of the screen and next to the project name.
- Root — root the ground once the restructuring is done. From then on the record is protected from being rewritten.
Rooting cannot be undone — settle the shape before you root.
