Quickstart

From sign-up to your first tree, quickly.

1. Sign up

Create an account at app.umtri.io with your email and a handle. Open the verification link we send you and your sign-up is done. The link expires after 24 hours, and you can request a new one from the sign-in screen.

Your handle is the unique name for you or your brand. Once set, it cannot be changed. Working with others? Create a team — it gets a name of its own.

2. Create a Ground

A ground is the soil where one project’s tree grows. From the list, click New Ground and fill in a name, a description, and so on. Only the name is required — the rest are optional fields you fill in to tell your projects apart and keep a record.

3. Add a Season

Every tree grows inside a season. Enter whatever suits the project — a version such as 1.0.x, or a stage such as PoC / Beta. Adding a season makes it the now season. If you are transplanting a tree you have already grown, it is often better to name seasons after the past periods they belong to and move your existing material across season by season.

With MCP connected, you can simply ask your agent: “Take everything built before April 20, create a PoC season, and plant it there; put everything after that into a 1.0.0 season.” See Connect · MCP & API for how to connect.

4. Grow the Tree

Build a node hierarchy that follows your project’s structure. What matters is that the project is visualized in a way you can read at a glance. Lay it out in tiers, from the broadest, most basic category down to the details, in whatever way suits the project.

  • New nodes are added in Plan mode; commit them once they are real and they harden into grown wood.

A newly created ground starts out transplanting. As the word suggests, this is not a tree growing from scratch but one ready to take in a tree that has already grown. While transplanting, even parts that have already grown can be changed. Once the project has settled in, root it — from then on every change to the tree is recorded.

5. Read it back

  • Drag the season slider to replay how the project grew.
  • Switch between the graph view and the list view. (On mobile it opens in list view by default.)
  • Toggle the layers in the sidebar. API and dependency (edge) layers are off by default, so turn them on to see them.
